Pearly
Beach is known for its wild, beautiful and endless beaches.
There is excellent whale watching and good fishing from
the beach. Pearly Beach is a small hamlet with approximately
570 inhabitants. About one third of these are retirees
and most of the rest are owners of holiday homes, including
a growing number of seasonal visitors from Europe.
Wake up after a peaceful night's sleep
to the sound of the surf and the birds. Go for an early jog
in the fresh morning air, followed by a quick, cooling dip
in the sea. Return to your cottage and have a slap-up breakfast.
Slather on plenty of sunscreen, put on your costume, get
your beach umbrella, ball, and boogie board, and head down
to the sandy white beach for a fun-filled morning in the
sun. Take a long, solitary walk, get a tan, and watch the
seagulls, plover and endangered black oyster catchers.
Back home for lunch. While you're sitting
on your stoep, you can watch the bulbuls, robins and boubous
fooling around in the birdbath. Feed crumbs to the tame francolins.
Watch a tortoise casually stroll across the lawn. If you're
lucky, you'll see a buck browsing in the fynbos.
